I'm always up for more characters, but I don't think this game needs more.  Especially considering the amount of effort it would take to do so.  I'd rather they just improve the balance, and give us some good online features like SSFIV has.  I do wish they'd add more stages giving each character their own unique stage.  Maybe they could put in some of the older stages from the previous SFIII games.  Maybe they could include the soundtracks from those games as well.

Tone down some of the ridiculous bullshit some characters can pull off.

Yes, yes, a thousand times YES!
Those stages from the older SF3 games were awesome, particularly Elena's, Ken's, Ryu's, Alex's and Ibuki's.

I hate some of the stages in 3S, like Necro/Twelve and Alex/Ken.

The thought of more characters in that animation IS tempting.   But then you have a question of how to do it without overshadowing the others.  Then again you might say it worked for Chun Li and Akuma, and just about anybody else can't be as popular as those two.

I'm all for new characters.  In fact one of my biggest difficulties about the game originally and even now is that it didn't have enough characters that interested me.  There's a fairly decent sized cast but I really kinda hated at least 5-6 of them.    I agree that improved balance is a priority but why not both?

It's just weird to be retro-actively adding characters to a 10 year old game as I really don't know who they'd put in.   Maybe SSFIV characters that are slightly older?    I dunno but I'd certainly be interested in seeing who they'd add and I'm already prob gonna get this.

I'm with Geese... I don't like any of the chars really. Q is alright I guess, but who likes someone that says "..." for everything? (plus all those dick jokes he writes on bathroom stalls)

Urien was cool, but far too naked.

And Hugo was pretty awesome, but I could never use him well against the 'puter which is the only way I played...

Adding some older characters would be pretty sweet. I'd like to see 3S Dhalsim or Bison or Vega or etc etc

The game just didn't have enough nostalgia factor... and the random pairing of characters often just came off goofy, so they had to keep using the science experiment reasoning...

Oh well, it'll be cool if they do, but I wouldn't mind if they dont... rebalance would be cool too, but I never played people in this game so I dunno what the balance issues actually are :-P

Some say Urien wasn't naked enough  

I heavily disliked Q and Necro. I was kinda indifferent about Elena (capoeira is cool but using her bored me) and only somewhat recently got into Oro.  (Even then, it's a case of relative interest).  Remy was too Guile for me.  Also Yun and Yang just didn't excite me that much.   Not big into Urien either.

I loved Makoto and Dudley.  Very much liked Hugo and Alex.  

Sean was pretty cool too, especially with his MMA influence.

I'm probably forgetting people, which isn't a good sign for them

If he were in 3rd Strike, Dhalsim would have his own tier below Sean.
Using him would be like digging a hole with a bowling ball.

I've always liked the SF3 cast though.
My first reaction upon playing New Generation was "Whoah, check out all these new characters!"
In fact, the first 3 characters I ever used in SF3 were Sean, Dudley and Elena.
I think they are a really interesting mix and I don't dislike any of them, though I'd have to say my least favorite is Remy, if only because of his blatant Guile-ness.

Oro, in particular, I find to be a very interesting character.
I know he's an oddball, but at this same time he has a very interesting mix of moves, which makes him really fun to use.

One remark I see a lot of is regarding Gill and Urien's "nakedness".
This has never bothered me at all, but maybe it's because I've always kinda liked history and mythology and I thought the whole "Greek God" thing was pretty cool.

I agree.  I like Gill and Urien's design.

I also agree. Their designs fit their characters perfectly.
And no new characters. If they did that, it really wouldn't be Third Strike anymore, it'd be Fourth Whatever-you-wanna-call-it.

Basically there are two characters on their own tier, another two or three directly below them, and then everybody else. May not be an issue if you're playing with friends or against the CPU, but if you play against "serious" types or -- God forbid -- watch any tournament videos you're going to puke your eyeballs out.
